I'm almost done with the Vikings...

...I have been watching the Vikings and rooting for them for over 20 years, but I am almost through with them. I know some will call me a fair-weather fan, but I just can't do this anymore. It's hard to watch a good team who looks completely cursed. For the third week in a row, we lost a double-digit lead and lost the game. This is too much. If we lose another one of these, I'm switching allegiances. The only question is: which team will I support?

Tim Tebow: as always, a class act

from: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6974381/tim-tebow-thanks-fans-support-says-wait-turn-complaint

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Save your bankroll and your breath Tim Tebow fans, the object of your desire and the target of your dislike both agree this is Kyle Orton's offense.

Tebow said Thursday that while he's honored his fans are cheering for him to take over as the Denver Broncos' quarterback, he trusts his coach and will bide his time without complaint.

"Well, I guess I appreciate the support, you know, but we got people in charge here that we trust and (I) trust they're going to do the right thing," Tebow said.

A group of Tebow supporters have said they'd like to buy two billboards in downtown Denver urging coach John Fox to bench Orton in favor of the former Florida star.

Tebow said he'd rather they donate the $10,000 to his charitable foundation.

Favre helping Webb

from: www.nfl.com

Joe Webb wants to be the Minnesota Vikings' starting quarterback. So, why not have the man who held that job for two seasons help?

Webb said he has worked out with Brett Favre the past few weeks in Hattiesburg, Miss., and he's happy to learn from the 41-year-old quarterback who holds most of the NFL's passing records.

"It's great to have a person like that as my contact," Webb told the University of Alabama-Birmingham website for a Wednesday story. "He can still sling it."

Webb, a sixth-round draft pick out of UAB last year, started the Vikings' final two games last season, but he shouldn't face any competition for the job from Favre, who filed his retirement papers in January. Favre's brother and mother said last week that they believe the quarterback is done with his NFL career and won't come out of retirement for a third time.

That leaves Webb competing with Christian Ponder, the Vikings' first-round draft pick in April, for the job unless the team signs a veteran quarterback after the NFL lockout ends. Tarvaris Jackson, who has started in past seasons, recently acknowledged that his time in Minnesota is over.

"I just want to show the world what I can do," said Webb, who completed 54 of 89 passes for 477 yards with three interceptions last season.

Man, this was a tough question, but a great answer. This is the definition of a role model. God, protect him from falling in the midst of the constant pressures of the NFL.

Kurt Warner Retires

A real class-act and great witness of Jesus hangs up his cleats.

from: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4870096

Quarterback Kurt Warner announced his retirement Friday from the NFL after 12 seasons, a year after leading the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl and weeks after leading them to the second round of the playoffs.

"Not much on the drama part of it, as most of you know," Warner said to begin a news conference at the Cardinals' training facility in Tempe, Ariz.

"Obviously, it's been 12 unbelievable years, some of the best years of my life," a composed Warner said Friday. "But I want everybody to know that I'm just as excited about the next 12, that I'm excited about what lies in front of me. I'm excited about spending more time with my family, and seeing what God's going to do next."

Since the Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs in a 45-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints on divisional playoff weekend, Warner has spent his days huddling over his decision with family and his agent, Mark Bartelstein.

Warner has been voted to five Pro Bowls and became the second quarterback in history to throw more than 100 touchdown passes for two NFL franchises.

Were you by chance one of the 30 million?

from: http://min.scout.com/2/916107.html

It’s no wonder Favre won the NFC Offensive P.O.W. honor, because just about the entire football world was watching. After setting an all-time cable record for viewership of an NFL game in the their meeting on Monday Night Football on ESPN, the numbers for Sunday’s game were even more massive by comparison. The 30 million people that watched the game made it the second-most watched game in the history of FOX NFL broadcasts – trailing only the 32.1 million drawn by the Cowboys-49ers meeting in November 1995. How big was it? It drew the most viewers on any network since the Academy Awards in February. The prime-time portion of the game (after 6 p.m. local time) drew 39 million viewers and a whopping 37 share of the TVs in use. By comparison, Game 4 of the World Series in prime time drew 23.3 million viewers and a 22 share.

Williamses will play all 2009 season!

Wow, did we sure get a break!

from: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4464771

MINNEAPOLIS -- A federal appeals court on Friday cleared the way for Minnesota Vikings Pat Williams and Kevin Williams to play all season, despite the NFL's attempts to suspend them for violating the league's anti-doping policy.
The NFL had already said the two defensive tackles could play in Sunday's season-opener at Cleveland because their court fight over the suspensions would not be decided in time.
"It's a big sigh of relief to know we're going to get to play the whole season," Kevin Williams said...
The NFL wants to suspend the Williamses, who are not related, for four games each after they both tested positive for a banned substance during training camp in 2008.
The players are not accused of taking steroids. They acknowledge taking the over-the-counter weight loss supplement StarCaps, which did not state on the label that it contained the diuretic bumetanide. The diuretic is banned by the NFL because it can mask the presence of steroids.
