"Asteroid Killed Dinosaurs"

Yeah, you bet, guys. Better get back to the drawing board. I wonder what a global flood would do to the dinosaurs? And what of those who made it through the flood? I wonder: if there were big lizards that were a threat to humans, what would humans do to them? Would they hunt them down until they were largely extinct? I wonder... Things that make you go "hmmmmm"...

from: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/03/05/scientists-hellish-environment-caused-asteroid-wiped-dinosaurs/

LONDON – A giant asteroid smashing into Earth is the only plausible explanation for the extinction of the dinosaurs, a global scientific team said on Thursday, hoping to settle a row that has divided experts for decades.

A panel of 41 scientists from across the world reviewed 20 years' worth of research to try to confirm the cause of the so-called Cretaceous-Tertiary (KT) extinction, which created a "hellish environment" around 65 million years ago and wiped out more than half of all species on the planet.

Scientific opinion was split over whether the extinction was caused by an asteroid or by volcanic activity in the Deccan Traps in what is now India, where there were a series of super volcanic eruptions that lasted around 1.5 million years.

The new study, conducted by scientists from Europe, the United States, Mexico, Canada and Japan and published in the journal Science, found that a 9-miles wide asteroid slamming into Earth at Chicxulub in what is now Mexico was the culprit.

What Blinds Us to the Truth

I read this article this morning and thought it was well-put. Satan has a multi-faceted approach to his lies and deceit.

from: http://thethings2come.org/

A List of Lies
This morning I was thinking about all the things that blind humans to the truth. This is just the start of what will likely be a longer list ultimately. I hope to add more as the days go by and they bubble to the surface of my conscious mind. Satan loves to distract us and send delusions that make us think we are interacting with the truth when in reality they offer just enough philosophical mumbo jumbo to make us think we have latched on to some answers but only those that keep us dwelling numbly in our chosen comfort zones. They not only keep us from the knowledge of our sin but they invite us to comfort our pathetic and perishing souls with the notion that we at least believe in something. Whether they are true or not doesn’t seem to matter. Special.

1. Psychology. This humanistic philosophy pretends to offer answers to all of our problems when in fact it is simply making things up as it goes. Psychology is a blatant counterfeit to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. A psychologist cannot truly see into our hearts, only God can. Therefore, a psychologist cannot diagnose our ills. Period. How in the world could a pop science take the place of God’s cleansing power? And yet this is what people, including Christians choose to believe.

Psychology teaches us to blame our problems on others’ actions or a lack of pharmaceuticals in our lives. God says our problems are spiritual and we are to be filled with the Spirit of God, not the latest fad drug. Psychology exists to keep our minds on ourselves all through the day and night; the bible says we are to focus on the finished work of Christ and our home in heaven. Psychology makes us impatient and demanding of life, that we must find answers to everything right now; the process of sanctification in Christ takes a lifetime. Forgiveness comes only by repenting of our sins and trusting Jesus. Christians everywhere are tainted and poisoned by the cult of psychology and think it is a medical science, when the truth is there are no tests for brain issues, you can’t just get a CAT scan and see a brain problem like you can obtain from a genuine disease. No matter, the notion of the reality of disease is negotiable. Reality check: these pseudo-scientist/doctors are just guessing. Christians should run for their lives from anything psychological and see it for what it is – a ruse of the enemy, a vain philosophy of men.

2. Political Correctness. The Fort Hood tragedy is a prime example of this. No one is calling this a home grown terrorist attack in America because no one wants to offend anyone. Is this justice in any way? How will this serve the victims? Political correctness in this or any other area covers for the truth, keeping us from observing, naming, and protecting ourselves from the enemy in our midst. Many will die and suffer because of this cover up of the truth. The reason they give for the shooter’s actions? He was “mentally ill”. So there are lies #1 AND #2 in action here. Question: are our troops who are fighting terrorism all over the globe simply fighting random cases of “mental illness”? The idiocy is confounding.

3. Global Warming. Here we have people who would never claim to believe in anything they cannot see trusting in the “hard facts” of science to guide their every purchase and philosophy. It would never occur to them that GW is a religion but that is exactly what it is, and to put one’s faith in the temperature of the planet which is unmeasurable at any given time is the height of absurdity. The planet does not have a fever but the faith it takes to believe that is way beyond anything the Bible presents. Such foolishness I cannot comprehend.

4. Evolution. Another in a growing list of things that take such great faith that one has to wonder how anyone can claim it is not a religion. The enemy is truly working overtime to convince humans that there is no God, He has no claims on our lives, and that there was nothing then it blew up. Of course, if you ask today’s savvy consumer if someone created their iPod, their PC, or their hybrid auto, they will look at you and say, ‘of course’. But something as complex as the universe, not so much. Today’s fleshly natured souls are so distracted by what they can see that they completely discount what they can’t. Unless it is Lie #3.
Go Figure.

1 in 3 Scientists believe in God!

from: http://www.christianpost.com/article/20090716/survey-one-third-of-scientists-believe-in-god/index.html

About one out of every three scientists in the United States professed believing in God, a recent survey found.
That figure is strikingly lower than the proportion of the general American public that say they believe in God (83 percent), according to the report by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press and the American Association for the Advancement of Science...
...Other interesting findings in the Pew report include huge differences between scientists who believe humans have evolved over time (87 percent) and Americans in general who hold this belief (32 percent); a large gap between the percentage of scientists who say the earth is warming because of human activity (84 percent) and the percentage of the public who agree with this statement (49 percent); and the proportion of scientists who favor federal funding for embryonic stem cell research (93 percent) and the general public who support such research (58 percent).

This is why I don't look to scientists as those who have all the answers. If one begins with the premise that there is no god, one will interpret all one's findings through that lens. It all depends on what glasses one is wearing. I wear a different set of specs!

Nope. Keep Trying...

from: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,520170,00.html

British scientists said on Wednesday that they had figured out key steps in the process by which life on Earth may have emerged from a seething soup of simple chemicals, according to Agence France-Presse.
Genetic information in living organisms today is held in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), the famous "double helix" molecule of sugar, phosphate and a base.
But DNA is too sophisticated to have popped up in an instant, and one avenue of thought says its single-stranded cousin, ribonucleic acid, or RNA, came first.
RNA plays a key role in making proteins and, in viruses, is used to store genetic code.
It is chemically similar to DNA but is simpler and tougher in structure, and thus looks like a good candidate for Earth's first information-coding nucleic acid.
But for all its allure, the "RNA first" theory has run into practical problems.
Now a paper published in the British journal Nature by University of Manchester chemists, led by Professor John Sutherland, ventures that an RNA-like synthesis took place through a series of chemical reactions and an important intermediate substance.

Pray for Professor Hawking

from: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517169,00.html

LONDON — Famed mathematician Stephen Hawking has been rushed to a hospital and is seriously ill, Cambridge University said Monday.
The university said Hawking has been fighting a chest infection for several weeks, and was being treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, the university city north of London.
"Professor Hawking is very ill," said Gregory Hayman, the university's head of communications. "He is undergoing tests. He has been unwell for a couple of weeks."
Hawking, 67, gained renown for his work on black holes, and has remained active despite being diagnosed at 21 with motor neurone disease, an incurable degenerative disease also called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease.
For some years, Hawking has been almost entirely paralyzed, and he communicates through an electronic voice synthesizer activated by his fingers.

For those of you who follow the Creation/Evolution Debate, Doctor Hawking has been one of the most vocal opponents of anything but blind evolution being brought to the table. Doctor Hawking is an avowed athiest, and hence he is not ready to face his Maker. Pray that he recovers and that his heart would open to the only One who can wash away his sin before he passes into eternity.

Rick Warren's Answers to Evolution

Pastor Rick Warren from Saddleback Church in California oftentimes gets vilified from both conservatives and liberals. But, these answers I very much appreciate.

HARRIS: Do you believe Creation happened in the way Genesis describes it?
WARREN: If you’re asking me do I believe in evolution, the answer is no, I don’t. I believe that God, at a moment, created man. I do believe Genesis is literal, but I do also know metaphorical terms are used. Did God come down and blow in man’s nose? If you believe in God, you don’t have a problem accepting miracles. So if God wants to do it that way, it’s fine with me.
HARRIS: I’m doing my Ph.D. in neuroscience; I’m very close to the literature on evolutionary biology. And the basic point is that evolution by natural selection is random genetic mutation over millions of years in the context of environmental pressure that selects for fitness.
WARREN: Who’s doing the selecting?
HARRIS: The environment. You don’t have to invoke an intelligent designer to explain the complexity we see.
WARREN: Sam makes all kinds of assertions based on his presuppositions. I’m willing to admit my presuppositions: there are clues to God. I talk to God every day. He talks to me.
