The Tea Party Platform

from: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=141493

The top 10 issues are:

1) Require each bill to identify its constitutional authorization

2) Defund, repeal, and replace government-run health care

3) Demand a balanced budget

4) End runaway government spending by imposing a statutory cap limiting growth in federal spending

5) Enact fundamental reform to simplify and lower taxes

6)Create a Blue Ribbon task force that engages in a complete audit of federal agencies and programs

7) Reject cap-and-trade

8) Pass an "all of the above" energy policy

9) Stop the 2011 tax hikes

10) Stop the pork.

New Obama-care Plan will have Gov't Officials Deciding if you get treatment or not

WOW! Can you even imagine?!! Say you are 80 years-old and you are in need of open heart surgery. Now imagine a number of government officials look at your records and say, "No. The person's too old, and the treatment's too expensive. We are not going to pay for that." Then, you either find a way to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket or you die. Is this the plan you want?

Unexpected Consequences

from: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/23/health-care-reform-energizes-pro-life-movement/

The battle over President Obama's health care overhaul has produced an unexpected beneficiary: the pro-life movement, which is summoning support and gathering contributions at a rate not seen since the partial-birth abortion debates of the mid-1990s.

Leaders of the movement are not only promising an electoral showdown in November but they've chosen a new villain: Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan.

The pro-life Democrat's last-minute switch in favor of the legislation passed Sunday has infuriated movement partisans. Mr. Stupak is already paying the price: The Susan B. Anthony List immediately stripped him of a Defender of Life award it was planning to bestow on him Wednesday at its third annual Campaign for Life gala at the Willard InterContinental in downtown Washington.

"Let me be clear: Any representative, including Rep. Stupak, who votes for this health care bill can no longer call themselves 'pro-life,'" said the group's president, Marjorie Dannenfelser.

US Military Concerned about Deficit

As I've said, we cannot afford this Health Care Bill. Start over. This WILL sink us.

With the Obama administration pressing for a government takeover of one-sixth of the U.S. economy to grant health-care benefits to all Americans, the U.S. military is worried that the United States is already losing the ability to afford national defense.

The deteriorating international trade position of the U.S. as documented by the CIA is a national security concern by the U.S. military, according to the Joint Operating Environment 2010 report, or JOE 2010, released Monday by the United States Joint Forces Command, or USJFCOM.

The CIA World Factbook lists the U.S., with a negative current account balance of $380 billion, in last place among 183 nations in 2009. China, in contrast, is listed as No. 1, with a positive current account balance of $296 billion.

Nor is the United States position in international trade improving.

The U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis reported in December that the U.S. current account deficit increased to $108 billion in the third quarter of 2009 from $98 billion in the second quarter of 2009.

Health Care Bill Unconstitutional?

from: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703278604574624021919432770.html
President Obama's health-care bill is now moving toward final passage. The policy issues may be coming to an end, but the legal issues are certain to continue because key provisions of this dangerous legislation are unconstitutional. Legally speaking, this legislation creates a target-rich environment. We will focus on three of its more glaring constitutional defects.

First, the Constitution does not give Congress the power to require that Americans purchase health insurance. Congress must be able to point to at least one of its powers listed in the Constitution as the basis of any legislation it passes. None of those powers justifies the individual insurance mandate. Congress's powers to tax and spend do not apply because the mandate neither taxes nor spends. The only other option is Congress's power to regulate interstate commerce...

A second constitutional defect of the Reid bill passed in the Senate involves the deals he cut to secure the votes of individual senators. Some of those deals do involve spending programs because they waive certain states' obligation to contribute to the Medicaid program. This selective spending targeted at certain states runs afoul of the general welfare clause. The welfare it serves is instead very specific and has been dubbed "cash for cloture" because it secured the 60 votes the majority needed to end debate and pass this legislation.

A third constitutional defect in this ObamaCare legislation is its command that states establish such things as benefit exchanges, which will require state legislation and regulations. This is not a condition for receiving federal funds, which would still leave some kind of choice to the states. No, this legislation requires states to establish these exchanges or says that the Secretary of Health and Human Services will step in and do it for them. It renders states little more than subdivisions of the federal government.

Paying off Senators with YOUR Tax Money

One question for everyone reading this: is this how you want your government working? If they can't get the votes needed, they begin promising large amounts of money toward pet projects. Where is that money coming from? Your tax dollars. I can hardly stomach it. In my opinion, the whole group needs to be elected out of office and start over.

from: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/12/18/nelson-cites-real-progress-health-care-talks/

WASHINGTON -- President Obama on Saturday praised the compromise reached on the Senate's version of his health care overhaul plan, saying, "We are on the cusp of making health care reform a reality in the U.S."

"It appears the American people will finally get a vote on health care overhaul they deserve," Obama said shortly after returning to the White House from his trip to Copenhagen.

Obama's comments came not long after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, with a self-imposed Christmas deadline looming, announced the Democrats had reached an agreement to secure the 60 votes needed to pass a sweeping overhaul of the U.S. health care system.

When asked directly at a news conference whether had the required votes, Reid replied, "It seems that way."

Reid's announcement came after he and other party leaders engineered a last-minute compromise on parts of the legislation to win the support of the lone Democratic holdout, Sen. Ben Nelson. Under the latest revisions, the Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill would cost $871 billion over the first 10 years and reduce the federal deficit by a cumulative total of $132 billion in that period.

Marathon negotiations among the White House, Senate Democratic leaders and Nelson, a conservative Democrat from Nebraska, produced fresh concessions that will mean additional abortion restrictions in the legislation and funding to cover poor people for Nelson's state and others.

"I know this is hard for some of my colleagues to accept and I appreciate their right to disagree. But I would not have voted for this bill without these provisions," Nelson said at a news conference in the Capitol.

Democratic leaders offered Nelson a deal similar to the $300 million in Medicaid assistance Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana got for her support, numerous sources told Fox News.

Doug Giles's call to church leaders...

...concerning preaching Obama's healthcare program from their pulpits. As always, a little edgy, but point taken...

"...my advice to pastors contemplating prodding congress to pass this 1,100-page diaper wipe: I hope you’re close with Obama because you might need him for a bailout. Yep, I’m afraid that if your congregation finds out about your giddiness over His Highness’ health edict you’re going to see a drop in your attendance and a big slash in your tithe when they discover you stand behind this socialistic mess."

I am deeply, deeply hurt...

I didn't get a call from the Prez...

from: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/20/army-lord-obama-seeks-health-care-push-pulpit/

If President Obama has his way, you'll soon be hearing about his health care package when you go to your church or synagogue to pray.
Thousands of religious leaders got a call from on high Wednesday when Obama reached out to Jewish and Christian clergy, urging them to push health care reform from the pulpit.
Obama spoke to about 140,000 people of faith in a conference call and webcast Wednesday evening. He and a White House official discussed the moral dimension of health care, telling the mostly Christian audience that "this debate over health care goes to the heart of who we are as a people."
But earlier that day, Obama went much further, asking about 1,000 rabbis to preach his political agenda in their sermons on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year -- one of the holiest days of the year.

My question is this: Whatever happened to "the separation of church and state"? Where's the uproar?!! Oh, that's right: that only applies to those who are CONSERVATIVE Christians who believe in traditional, Judeo-Christian values.

One of the big Health Care issues for me...

The President can say he wants to work alongside private insurance companies, but if this government-funded program is passed, the private companies will soon be unable to turn a profit. Then, who comes to save the day? Who else: the Federal Government. Yet another industry under the feds. This is the definition of socialism, and socialism leads no where good. Our system of government is not perfect, but only the historically-illiterate would argue socialism over capitalism.

Health Care Plan to Cover Abortions?!!

from: http://asia.news.yahoo.com/ap/20090805/twl-us-health-care-overhaul-abortion-ef375f8.html

WASHINGTON – Health care legislation before Congress would allow a new government-sponsored insurance plan to cover abortions, a decision that would affect millions of women and recast federal policy on the divisive issue.
Federal funds for abortions are now restricted to cases involving rape, incest or danger to the life of the mother. Abortion opponents say those restrictions should carry over to any health insurance sold through a new marketplace envisioned under the legislation, an exchange where people would choose private coverage or the public plan.
Abortion rights supporters say that would have the effect of denying coverage for abortion to millions of women who now have it through workplace insurance and are expected to join the exchange.
Advocates on both sides are preparing for a renewed battle over abortion, which could jeopardize political support for President Barack Obama's health care initiative aimed at covering nearly 50 million uninsured and restraining medical costs. The dispute could come to a head with House and Senate floor votes on abortion this fall, a prospect that many lawmakers would like to avoid.
"We want to see people who have no health insurance get it, but this is a sticking point," said Richard Doerflinger, associate director of pro-life activities for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. "We don't want health care reform to be the vehicle for mandating abortion." The church can't accept a public plan that covers abortion, he said.

Mayo Clinic: Proposed Health Care Plan leaves Americans "losers"

from: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jul/21/mayo-clinic-calls-house-plan-bad-medicine/?feat=home_cube_position1

A world-renowned clinic that President Obama held up as an example of good medicine said Monday that the American people would be "losers" under the House's health care proposal, joining the growing chorus of critics the Obama administration is trying to fend off as the debate intensifies from Capitol Hill to Main Street.
Minnesota's not-for-profit Mayo Clinic, which Mr. Obama has repeatedly hailed as offering top quality care at affordable costs, blasted the House Democrats' version of the health care plan as lawmakers continue to grapple with several bills from each chamber and multiple committees.
The Mayo Clinic said there are some positive elements of the bill, but overall "the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher quality, more affordable health care for patients."
"In fact, it will do the opposite," clinic officials said, because the proposals aren't patient-focused or results-oriented. "The real losers will be the citizens of the United States."

Your Tax Dollars to Fund Abortions?

from: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/07/19/health-insurance-debate-looms-budget-director-refuses-rule-federally-funded/

A government-funded, public health insurance plan may allow taxpayer money to go to pay for abortions, the White House budget chief said Sunday.
Office of Budget and Management Chief Peter Orszag told "FOX News Sunday" he is not ready to say whether abortion services would be part of a final package Congress is considering to provide taxpayer-funded health care to about a third of the nation's 50 million uninsured. Lawmakers are considering a package that could cost as much as $1.5 trillion over 10 years for health care.
"I think that that will wind up being part of the debate. I am not prepared to say explicitly that right now. It's obviously a controversial issue, and it's one of the questions that is playing out in this debate," Orszag told "FOX News Sunday." "I'm not prepared to rule it out."
Already, the Obama administration has demonstrated its support for federal funding of abortion. The president rescinded the Mexico City Policy on Jan. 23, the day after the 36th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. The policy had been in place to prevent U.S. funding being used for abortion services in clinics abroad.
The House last week voted to eliminate a ban on local funds being used for abortions in Washington, D.C., which gets a substantial portion of its budget from the federal government.
The health care reform bill is still playing out in debate in the House and Senate, with Obama pushing passage by August. GOP lawmakers say they are unwilling to rush a bill through Congress, but Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., said abortion won't be the issue to hold up the measure.
"No matter what your views are on abortion, you shouldn't ask people to use their tax dollars if they think that abortion is taking a life -- to use their tax dollars for those purpose -- for that purpose," Gregg said on "FOX News Sunday."
"I would hate to see the health care debate go down over that issue," Gregg added. "We do really need health care reform, and it has to be substantive ... So hopefully we won't get ourselves wrapped around the wheel of abortion in this debate."
