If you have never read through Ezekiel 36 & 37 in the Bible, I challenge you to do it. It may get your attention. Without getting too much into specifics, it basically has this message: after many years of the Jewish people being separated from the land of Israel, they will be brought back from the four corners of the earth. Sound familiar?
Then, beginning in chapter 38, it talks about a great plot forged by the newborn Israel's surrounding nations to destroy her. Led by Magog (present-day Russia) and Persia (present-day Iran), these nations will come to drive Israel's occupants into the sea. And when they do, the Lord God of Israel will annihilate Israel's enemies in order to show His power and majesty to Israel and the rest of the world. In chapter 39, verse 27 God states, "When I have brought [the Jews] back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will show myself holy through them in the sight of many nations." So great will be the destruction that chapter 39, verse 12 states: "For seven months the house of Israel will be burying [their enemies] in order to cleanse the land."
The specifics of what is prophecied in chapters 38 and 39 have never yet happened in the history of the world. In other words, they are yet to come. And now that Israel has been reborn as a nation, and now that Russia and Iran seem to be solidifying ties between them, this could happen anyday now. Stay tuned...
